Job Description

The Senior Climate Analyst will join Malk Partners’ fastest growing practice area, Carbon and Climate Solutions. This will be a highly dynamic role with the opportunity to deliver industry leading climate solutions to some of North America’s top Private Equity investors and their portfolio companies. You will be a key contributor on client engagements and will be expected to deliver top notch analysis to project leads and own the production of client ready presentation materials. This role will report into the Head of Carbon and Climate Solutions. We are looking for a candidate who wants to help build the private market’s leading climate solutions service.
 

Responsibilities 

Project Delivery –  85%

  • Lead client engagements with colleagues from Malk’s Private Equity and Portfolio Value Creation teams
  • Conduct comprehensive Scope 1-3 carbon emissions inventories using a suite of Malk’s proprietary tools and public data bases. Develop solutions to meet clients at every state of the climate maturity curve
  • Validate carbon data inputs and find ways for clients to increase the accuracy of their emissions calculations
  • Perform analysis on the emissions inventories of private equity portfolios and company level operations to identify hotspots and potential GHG reduction opportunities
  • Strategize decarbonization plans to be leveraged for setting targets with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) on behalf of clients
  • Support the development of pitch materials and proposals to further grow Malk’s Climate Solutions business
  • Be the carbon accounting and climate expert – work with generalists from across the Malk organization to answer questions and add value to our broader ESG services

Innovation and Strategy – 15%

  • Collaborate with Malk’s Service Innovation team to create best practices for carbon accounting workflows to further enhance our ability to serve clients
  • Identify gaps in the Climate strategies of clients’ programs, and develop right sized solutions to meet their needs
  • Monitor US, EU, and State level regulation to stay abreast on developments on climate disclosure requirements
  • Track industry trends for decarbonization expectations to direct our client’s programs
     

Qualifications and Skills

  • Skills:
    • Exceptional ability to manipulate large sets of data and draw out meaningful insights through analysis
    • Strong understanding of Scope 1-3 carbon accounting and the GHG Protocol;
    • Comfort with solving complex problems and working through ambiguous information provided by clients
    • Capacity to collaborate across the organization and work as a team player
    • Ability to develop clear insights that drive action for clients on Climate
  • Experience:·
    •  2-3 years of experience working with clients or contributing to climate projects in one of the following capacities, or related: (management consulting, financial services, corporate strategy, carbon/climate software, environmental consulting, or engineering)
    • Experience working with Private Equity is a plus    
       

Additional Details

  • Location: New York, NY. Hybrid In-Office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • Compensation: Base salary range is $80K + discretionary bonus eligibility
